Tehran blood Transfusion department is responsible for providing a safe and sufficient blood supply for Tehran therapeutic centers. To reach this aim the following actions are taken:

a - Establishing mobile and fixed blood collection units in different parts of Tehran province in order to admit blood donors and collect their blood according to international standards.

b - Performing, screening tests and determining blood group and RH on donated blood samples.

c - Provision and maintenance of blood and blood products in proper and suitable conditions.

d - Quality control of the above activities as well as quality control of blood and plasma products.

e - Distribution of blood and its products among therapeutic centers upon request from hospital blood banks.

f - Education and general recruitment of the society for provision of a safe and sufficient blood supply.

g - Informing blood donors on the importance of safe blood donation and CUE project.

h - Training the employees of the center in order to improve the quality of their function and relation with the donors, the correct methods of blood collection, performing the necessary tests, provision of blood products and their maintenance and distribution.

i - Training the therapeutic staff in regard to methods of transport, maintenance, and usage of blood and blood products.
