Donation process

* Attendance the applicant at a blood donation center.

* Studying the important message of the blood transfusion on the board.

 Applicants choose one of the following ways after studying the brochure and understanding the information about risky behavior:

- They change their mind and leave the place.

- They consult with the doctor of the blood donation unit, and if any follow up is necessary, they are introduced to the counseling clinic.

- They decide to donate blood, they are examined by the doctor, and then, choose the yes / no choice in the self - omission sheet and place it in the yellow box in front of the entrance door of the blood donation hall, and the blood donation procedure is continued. In case the donor chooses yes , his / her blood will be used after screening tests , and in case , he / she chooses No , his / her blood will be discharged from the usage cycle.

* Referring to the reception section and filling in the blood donation registration form, along with presenting a valid ID. Card and receiving the self omission program pamphlet.

* Attendance in the examination room and cooperation with the doctor of donors during the counseling and examinations and determination of the amount of hemoglobin.

In case the donor is confirmed to have the proper conditions for blood donation by the examining physician he should complete the self-omission forms and place it in the special yellow box. This process is called CUE (Confidential Unit Exclusion). 

* Submission of the registration form to the head of the blood collection unit to be directed to the blood collection saloon.

* Donation of blood and observing the points mentioned by the blood collection technician.

* Taking a rest for 15 minutes after termination of blood donation, taking a brief snack and obtaining the recall card for the next referral.

* Leaving the blood donation center.

* The blood donation card will be posted to the address mentioned in the registration form by the donor.

Cares after donation

* Do not lie on the hand through which you have donated blood while coming down from the bed, you should not use this hand to do hard work till some hours after blood donation.
* Keep the handiplast on the needle place for some hours.

* Do not smoke until two hours after blood donation.

 * Do not exercise and do not work hard until 8 hours after blood donation.

 * If the place of needle bleeds, keep your hand up and press the place of bleeding so that bleeding stops.

 * In case you see unexpected and unnatural symptoms after leaving the blood donation unit, lie down immediately and call the doctor or supervisor of Tehran blood transfusion department on 021-88952098 - 88961690.
